Michel Deneuve writes music for the theatre, dance, poetry readings, and films, as well as compositions for solo instruments or ensembles. His interest in contemporary music, his classical training and his own musical preferences which encompass much more than western culture, create a musical richness in his compositions where these various musical influences and trends exist side by side and complement each other in perfect harmony.
Although he has only one goal, the range of his experience is wide, allowing him to compose a large variety of music :
- Music for theatre and films
- Compositions for solo instruments or orchestras
- Music dedicated to the study of the Cristal and to a repertoire for this instrument
"These Cristal studies make use of all the musical forms which I feel justify a didactic contribution resulting in an understanding of what the Cristal is, as well as providing a technical and musical evolution for those who study the instrument.
A musical instrument thrives and grows by being nourished essentially on its own repertoire. Therefore more and more composers must write for Cristal solo.
It also needs to be included as a solo instrument or as accompaniment in ensembles from duets to orchestras.
Today, the Cristal can respond to a wide variety of composers' needs. Writing for, or with, it will assure its existence throughout time.
Its evolution, its capacities, and the purity of its sound will certainly offer the world works of great beauty".
"For me, music is first of all an invitation to a journey, to the discovery of new possibilities. It contributes to the accomplishment of your "Being" towards its own harmony. The purity, the feel and the expressiveness of the Cristal offer me the magnificent elements appropriate to this search."
