Musical instruction

Michel Deneuve lead music workshops in French scholls and music conservatories, and applied himself to the task of training music teacher to use the sound structures. Work he continues to pursue today.

Ten years after he began playing the Cristal, Michel Deneuve started giving lessons wich apply a variety of disciplines :

- philosophy,

- music history,

- the histoy of instrument,

- the perception of sounds,

- straight technic,

- interpretation,

- improvisation.

"In order to teach a new instrument, one must first find an efficient language that has been adapted as well as possible to transmitting the music written for the instrument and its playing technic.

Being one of the first to teach the Cristal, for me this is also a process of transmitting a technic that, to this point, has only been corroborated by my own experience.

What a surprise me is that, for about ten years, I've been the only person to really work with this instrument. Undoubtedly, one of the reasons is the world-wide explosion of electronic music during the 1980's.

It was mostly during 1990's that other Cristalists emerged, wheter or not they were my own students. Seriously thinking about the learning process of playing the Cristal began at this point.

I admit to being very prudent when it comes to the great responsability I feel towards the exceptional capacities of the Baschet Cristal".

Michel Deneuve

As with any instrument, it takes at least ten years to develop a good technic and to be able to offer instrument and comprehension to the music.

The growing interest in the Cristal has lead Michel Deneuve to establish the school, l'Ecole de Cristal wich will open soon.
